Per-workspace Slack branding for AI replies
Your AI replies in Slack appear under your org logo and name, not Ochre's. The branding from Settings → Branding flows through automatically.
Per-workspace Slack branding
If you support customers in shared Slack channels, the AI agent now replies under your brand — your org's logo and display name — instead of a generic Ochre identity. No extra setup once Slack and branding are configured.
What changed
Until recently, AI-sent replies in Slack channels showed under a single generic bot identity for every workspace using Ochre. Now, every org gets its own branded bot identity in Slack, derived from:
- Workspace name → bot display name.
- Logo → bot avatar.
Both come from Settings → Branding — see branding.
A customer in a Slack Connect channel sees a reply from "Acme Support" with the Acme logo, not "Ochre Bot." The conversation looks like it is being handled by your team — because it is.
Where it applies
- Slack Connect channels that customers share with you.
- AI-sent replies specifically. Human-typed replies have always shown under the human's identity.
- Slack notifications to internal teammates also pick up the branding when they reference an AI action.
Where it does not apply
- Email channel. Email branding is handled separately by the signature and domain-settings.
- Chat widget. The widget already renders under your branding; that has not changed.
- Internal Slack DMs from Ochre to your teammates. Those still show under the Ochre bot — they are infra notifications, not customer-facing.
What you need to do
Probably nothing.
If you have already set up branding (logo + workspace name) and connected Slack, the branded identity is automatic. Refresh the Slack channel after your next AI reply and you will see the new avatar and name.
If you have not yet set up branding, do it now: Settings → Branding, upload a square PNG logo (512x512 or larger, transparent background), and confirm your workspace name reads cleanly. The Slack avatar is rendered from the same image.
Updating
When you update your logo or workspace name in Settings → Branding, the Slack identity updates on the next AI message — usually within a few seconds. There is no separate Slack-side cache to bust.
If your channel is showing the old avatar after a logo change, scroll the channel and Slack will refresh the user list.
Why this matters
Two reasons.
First, customers in a shared channel are paying attention to the brand they are talking to. A bot that says "Ochre Bot" reading "your support team" feels uncanny. A bot that says "Acme Support" with the Acme avatar reads as a person on the team.
Second, your team's reaction to AI-sent messages in Slack is calibrated to the bot identity. When the bot looks like "yours," teammates instinctively review it the way they would a teammate's reply. When it looks foreign, AI suggestions get ignored or distrusted by reflex.
Common questions
Can different channels show different branding? No. Branding is per-workspace, not per-channel. If you support multiple brands from one workspace, that is the same constraint as on email — see domain-settings for the multi-brand pattern.
Can I set the AI bot's display name independently of the workspace name? Not currently. The workspace name is what shows. If you want them different, change the workspace name in Settings → Workspace — but note that name shows in many other places too.
Does this require a Slack admin? No. The branding piggybacks on the Slack app you already authorized. There is no new permission ask.
Why does my old AI message in Slack still show the generic bot? Slack does not retroactively update the avatar on past messages. New messages will use the new branding.
