Stripe billing portal
The Stripe-hosted portal where you update your card, change billing email, view invoices, and update your tax address. Owner-only.
Stripe billing portal
Ongoing billing changes happen in the Stripe billing portal, the same hosted portal Stripe provides to every Stripe-using SaaS company. Owner-only.
Open it from Settings → Billing → Manage subscription. You will be redirected to Stripe with a single-use authenticated link, valid for a few minutes.
What you can do in the portal
- Update the card on file
- Change the billing email
- Update billing address (used for tax calculation)
- View and download invoices
- View payment history and receipts
- Add a VAT number or tax ID
- Set a "PO number" for AP teams that match invoices to internal POs
What you cannot do in the portal
- Cancel your subscription. Cancellation goes through hello@ochrehq.com today. See cancellation.
- Change seat count directly. Seat count tracks team membership; manage via inviting-team-members.
- Switch from monthly to annual. Email hello@ochrehq.com — we issue an invoice for the annual amount.
- Issue refunds. Email hello@ochrehq.com. See refunds.
Updating your card
- Open the portal.
- Click Add payment method or Update default.
- Enter card details. 3D Secure may prompt; complete the bank challenge.
- Set new card as default.
- Optionally remove the old card.
The next invoice charges the new default. We do not retry the old card.
If a charge fails (expired card, insufficient funds), Stripe retries on its standard schedule. During retry your workspace stays fully usable. After all retries fail, the workspace enters a 7-day grace state and you have time to update before service is paused.
Changing the billing email
Invoices and receipts are sent to the billing email on Stripe. By default this is the owner's account email. You can change it to a finance shared inbox without affecting the owner role itself.
In the portal:
- Click your name in the upper right of the portal page.
- Update billing email.
- Save.
The Ochre owner email and the Stripe billing email are independent after this change.
Viewing invoices
The portal lists all past invoices with PDF download. Each invoice includes:
- Subscription line items
- Proration line items (mid-cycle seat adds)
- Tax (per your billing address)
- Total
Invoices are also emailed to the billing contact when issued. See invoices.
Security
The portal is hosted on billing.stripe.com. Authentication is via single-use signed URL from Ochre, valid for a few minutes. We do not see your card details at any point — PAN data lives only on Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.
Tax handling
Stripe Tax computes the right tax for your billing address automatically. EU VAT, US sales tax, GST, and so on are handled. Update your billing address in the portal if you move the legal entity.
If you are a B2B customer with a VAT number or tax ID, add it in the portal. The next invoice will be reverse-charged where appropriate.
Common questions
Can admins access the portal? No. Owner only. To delegate, transfer ownership or update the billing email so the relevant person at least gets the receipts.
My finance team needs invoices in their inbox. Update the billing email to their inbox via the portal.
The portal does not show my invoice from before X. Stripe retains all invoices from the start of your subscription. If something is missing, email hello@ochrehq.com.
Can I pay by ACH or wire? Card by default. For annual prepay we can issue a Stripe invoice payable by ACH — email hello@ochrehq.com.
