Cancellation
Email hello@ochrehq.com to cancel. Concierge flow today, not one-button. Workspace stays active through the paid period, then read-only for 30 days.
Cancellation
To cancel your Ochre subscription, email hello@ochrehq.com from the owner's address with the subject line "Cancel subscription" and your workspace name. We respond within one business day to confirm and schedule the cancellation.
That is the whole flow. We currently route cancellations through a concierge step rather than a one-click in-app button — the extra confirmation lets us answer questions, pull a final export if needed, and make sure nothing is lost.
What happens after we confirm
- Stripe records the cancellation. No further charges are scheduled.
- Your workspace stays fully active through the rest of the current billing period (up to ~30 days).
- At period end, the workspace transitions to a read-only state. Agents can sign in to read but cannot send replies or change settings. Customers cannot reach you. Inbound mail bounces.
- The read-only window is open for 30 days, giving you time to run export-data if you have not already.
- After the 30-day window, the workspace is deactivated. To fully delete data, request workspace-deletion — also concierge.
Why no one-button cancel + refund
Our pricing is flat ($39/seat/month) with no upfront commitment. Mid-cycle cancellation refunds would be tiny and add a lot of accounting overhead. Cancel and use the rest of the period.
If you are canceling because of a billing error or platform outage, that is different. Email hello@ochrehq.com and we will sort it out. See refunds.
Before you cancel
A short pre-flight checklist:
- Run a data export. Even if you plan to come back later, having a JSON export now is cheap insurance. See export-data.
- Switch your support email's MX away from us. Otherwise inbound mail will bounce after period end. See domain-settings.
- Update your help center URL or take it offline. Customers may still try to find you there during the read-only window.
- Tell your team. Agents lose the ability to reply at period end.
Reactivating
If you change your mind before period end, reply to our cancellation confirmation and ask to reactivate. Your subscription resumes with the same seat count and renewal date. Nothing else changes.
If you change your mind after period end but during the 30-day read-only window, email hello@ochrehq.com — we can re-enable the subscription. The workspace data is intact during this window.
After 30 days the workspace is deactivated and recovery is not possible. You can sign up fresh.
Cancellation vs deletion
These are different operations:
- Cancellation stops the bill. Workspace stays as-is through the paid period, then read-only for 30 days.
- Deletion is a hard delete of all data. Initiated from danger-zone, 30-day grace, then unrecoverable.
You can cancel without deleting. Deletion implicitly cancels.
If you want to leave Ochre cleanly, the order is:
- Run export-data.
- Switch DNS away from us.
- Email cancellation request.
- (Optional) Email deletion request after.
Common questions
Will I be charged at period end if I have already canceled? No. Cancellation halts all future charges immediately.
Can I cancel and leave my data accessible long-term? No. Read-only is 30 days. Run an export.
Can someone else cancel for me? Cancellations need to come from the owner's email. If you need to delegate, transfer ownership first.
What if I have an annual subscription? Cancellation still takes effect at term end. For mid-term annual cancellations, refunds are case-by-case. See refunds.
What to do next
- Run export-data before canceling.
- See stripe-portal for card and billing-email updates while you are still active.
